You can safely run 4ohm speakers on a receiver that says 8ohms, you just may drive the receiver into thermal protect mode if you listen at extremely high levels for an extended period of time. Typical HTIB speakers will self destruct before the receiver does. That being said, most HTIB speakers aren’t very good. WebWhen speakers are connected in series, their total impedance can be found by simply adding the nominal impedance of each speaker together. Two 8 ohm speakers in series present a 16 ohm load to the amplifier. Connecting a 4 ohm speaker and an 8 ohm speaker in series will present a 12 ohm load to the amplifier.
